This year started off a bit rough for us, as my grandmother Kat died New Year's Day. The weeks leading up to her death were harrowing for my mother and her sisters, but at the end, we had the opportunity to spend some time together and remember her via a beautiful scrapbook that my Aunt had put together some time ago. We'll miss you, Kathlyn. Here are some pictures from the last year.
We also lost Jeff's great Aunt Vickie last Tuesday and send our love to Uncle Charles, his family, and all of the West / Farah folks.
We continue to look into preschools, especially as we get closer to the new baby's arrival. We're on one wait list and will tour another in the next month or so. We're also touring montessori schools for when she's older, as it seems that we need to be on waiting lists asap. Sheesh.
We've also started considering how we'll move Morgen into her big girl bed in her big girl room. Lots of questions for Dr. Hausman-Cohen at this week's visit!
Morgen is walking pretty well now, though she seems to pay less attention now and runs into things (the wall, for example) more often. She has a ton of personality and is very expressive. In the last few days, she's started to repeat words (or something like them) more and more. She still communicates mostly with signs, but she seems interested in language and babbles quite a bit.
When Uncle Mike was here at the beginning of the year, he, Grandpa Darrell, and Daddy put the toddler swing in the tree. Morgen loves it and will giggle and sign for more. At least until she sees Sadie (the neighbors' dog). At which point, she signs down aggressively and toddles after Sadie until Sadie tires of the attention. Then we head down to our other neighbors' house to see if their puppy is available for Morgen's love.
Last weekend Aunt Beth, Uncle Tim, and Audrey came over, and the girls walked around the backyard, played with Sadie, played with toys, and generally had a ball together. It's neat to see what our future will look like when Morgen's little sister is old enough to play with her.
Morgen had her first dental appointment last week, and it was interesting. The appointment was just to make sure that her teeth looked good and to make sure we were establishing good habits with brushing and eating. Morgen did fairly well, and my favorite quote from the dentist (Dr. Tate) was, "The more she screams, the better I can see." Morgen didn't get too upset, but she definitely provided enough of a view.
Well, unlike yesterday when Morgen took a 3 hour nap, it appears that she's waking after an hour today. *sigh* Please send energy my way... :)
