Hi, Daddy

Babies everywhere! Okay, not everywhere, but congratulations to Jeff's brother Tim and his wife Beth on the birth of their son Erik Wilson (last Friday) and to friends Brian and Kasi on the birth of their daughter Cora Elizabeth (yesterday). Wow. The things you manage to forget about that whole birth process...yikes!

We had good news today - we got into a preschool for fall! The school starts the first week of August, so we'll have 2.5 months between #2's arrival and Morgen starting school. Hoping Jeff will be able to spend a fair bit of time at home for the first couple of weeks, so that'll leave us 8 weeks of two kiddos at home. If Liv is as mellow as Morgen, that might be okay; we'll have to see!

Morgen has been saying "Hi" and "Bye-bye" a lot lately - sometimes to herself over and over, sometimes repeating it when I say it. This morning she put two words together for the first time and said "Hi, Daddy." It was so cute!

She's doing really well with the going to bed routine - getting up once or twice some nights but not at all on others. Hooray!

We just got a couple of books about using the potty, and I got a Bjorn potty seat at a resale shop. We had a potty seat, but it was too tall for her. The Bjorn is just right. We haven't really read the books, but since she can sit on the potty by herself, she does it off and on throughout the day. Tonight Jeff set her on the potty right before bath time, and she peed in the potty! We're going to add that to our nightly routine since she nearly always pees at bathtime anyway.

She also signed for diaper change twice today - once when she was poopy. She usually denies the poopy diaper vehemently, so her voluntary admission is great progress. I'm not super actively working on the potty training but want to encourage her when she's doing things that'll make it easier.

It's fantastic she went #1 in the potty the first day you got it! Next time she and Peanut get together, she'll have to give him some tips.
