GA and FL

In July, we went to Georgia. Yep. We drove to GA with Morgen. Would I suggest it? Nope. Did it work out? Yep.

First, GA. We went for a bluegrass festival (Raccoon Creek) that was small and fabulous. We had a great time, and Morgen handled it very well. We had the opportunity to visit with family friends - the Hunns and my friend Suzi Hunn Gran. We hadn't seen each other in over a year, so it was great to catch up. We also got to see Bruce Hunn's band - Nancy Creek play and then jam. It was a blast and reminded us what we like so much about the bluegrass genre.

On the way to Atlanta, we also had the opportunity to stop in Dallas for a last visit with Jeff's folks before their move to Austin (Welcome, Rich and Cathy!). Then we stopped in MS. We had a great evening with my Aunt Barbara, Uncle Tommy, cousin Beth, cousin Brent, and cousin Jennifer and her husband Jeremy and baby girl Ella Grace. Aunt Becky was traveling in Mexico, but we caught her on the way back. We had a fabulous meal courtesy of Uncle Tommy, and Morgen had a ball chasing Honey the dog and climbing up and down a short set of steps.

On the way home, we stopped in MS overnight and visited with Uncle Tommy and Aunt Becky and Beth and then we pushed it to get home. Morgen was a trooper but was ready to avoid the car seat for a few days.

A month later, Jeff was off to Norway with his folks, and Morgen and I were off to Florida to visit my brother and his family. Jeff had an amazing trip, but I'll leave it to him to write about that. Morgen and I had a very exiting visit with Uncle Mike, Aunt Laurinda, Shae, and Kara (with a couple of pop-ins by Randy).

Morgen got to see her first goats, chickens, and horses. She rode in her first golf cart and her first tractor. She swam, she ate and ate and ate, and she met some Weldon family friends. She shopped (well, napped while Mom shopped) in both Lakeland and Orlando, and she ate some more! We went to Lakeland's fabulous park and visited Uncle Mike at work.

It was a great visit, and one of the first trips that resulted in me doing less work than I normally do - lots of help from everyone. So nice. Oh, and neither flight was full, so M. got a seat in both directions - what a huge difference that made for our squirmer.
